Mary + Nathan: Engagement Session

Saturday was freezing cold but that didn’t stop us from putting together a great engagement shoot! I met Mary and Nathan in Ty Ty, Georgia on Mary’s family farm. The interaction between Mary and Nathan really made this shoot special. I love it when the couple can just get lost in each other and forget that I’m there. Enjoy! Melanie’s Bridal at Pebble Hill

Melanie is a Bride just too beautiful for words! Especially when she showed up in this gorgeous dress, at the Pebble Hill Plantation in Thomasville, GA for her Bridal session. I had to keep these photos under wraps for a few weeks so no peeping grooms could get a glimpse at them on my blog. Stay tuned for the wedding shots (It was amazing!) coming later this week!

You’ve gotta love the retro-glam of the “Birdcage” veil!

Brandi + Will Engagement Session

Sunday afternoon I met with Brandi and Will in Valdosta for an awesome shoot. You’ll be hard pressed to find two people more comfortable together in front of the camera. Plus we’ve had some great cool spring weather the last few days that has made the late afternoon sessions a breeze. Enjoy!

Marilyn + Jared Engagement Session

Yesterday I spent the afternoon in Cook County, just outside of Adel, hopping from field to field with Marilyn and Jared. I can’t wait for the wedding which will be at Jared’s parent’s house. Look out for those pics soon, the wedding is right around the corner on April 18!

Jennifer + Matt: E-Session

A few weeks ago I met up with Jennifer and Matt for an engagement session. They chose a family farm for the setting which was perfect not only because of all the great places to shoot but because it is a personal place. I always encourage my couples to choose someplace special. I think it adds another layer of personality to a portrait when you have people in an environment that holds some personal meaning for them. Anyway these are some of my faves from the day. Enjoy them, it’ll be the last you see of these two until there wedding on April 4, 2009.

The Wrong Side of the Tracks: E Session

It’s finally is starting to feel like Fall in South Georgia. Or maybe I should just say it’s finally NOT feeling like Summer, which is a welcomed change even though I’m not a fan of cold weather.

Anyway I wanted to post up a quick shot from yesterday’s E-session with Amanda and Eric. It was funny because there were 3 other photographers in Downtown Valdosta shooting portraits. So we trekked a little further down the road to the other side of the tracks and got some cool shots for one cool couple. I’ll post more soon plus updates from our last few weddings! Katie + Jared in Thomasville

Yesterday I met with Katie and Jared to shoot their engagement session. The plan was to start shooting at Katie’s parents house near Pavo (also where the ceremony will be) and then move on to downtown Thomasville. As soon as we got the first frame off it started pouring. We waited it out for about 45 minutes and decided to head on to Thomasville before it got any later. We get down the road and it turns into a scene from one of those storm chaser movies. Wind, blinding rain, and hail. Yes, hail, we had it all except for a funnel cloud! When we finally got to Thomasville the weather was clear and we were able to get to work!

With the ceremony almost a year off I can’t wait to do another session (hopefully with less terrifying weather) in Atlanta where these two met!

Lisa + Adam The Photo Guestbook

I thought I would make a post showing what the pages of one of my photo guestbooks look like. I leave a lot of space around the images so guests can sign the pages (yearbook style) at the reception. I’ve been offering these for a couple of years as an alternative to the signature matted photos you often see, and they are by far my most popular add-on.

Another fun engagement session! I’m glad I decided to always shoot an engagement session for all of my clients. It really gives everyone involved an opportunity to get to know each other better which is great for establishing a good photographer-client relationship. That way the couple can really get comfortable in front of the lens and the way I shoot. It’s like a dry run before the big day.

Speaking of big days, Aubrey and Nate’s is coming up next month at Gin Creek!
